Hickory 19px

Hickory is a font I made for a game I keep telling myself I'll come back to one day.

It's a variable-width Times-y font that's meant not to draw excess attention to itself, but not be completely devoid of character either. There's not exactly a dearth of pixel art fonts, but I find most either too out there or too bland. Here, I'm hoping to roll right down the middle.

19px is the literal height of the characters, but they're really 12 pixels tall from base to cap. The remaining 7 pixels are reserved for descenders (3px), capital diacritics (3px), and 1 pixel of baked vertical spacing. Between the dead space and the unusally-low-for-pixel-fonts x-height, you may find the default vertical spacing a little high. Feel free to reduce it in your application of choice, but note that regardless of font if you plan on supporting languages with capital diacritics, you'll need to leave some space for 'em.

There's no kerning pairs, but some characters, particularly capitals like F or W with dead space in the bottom right, have a sort of negative spacing baked in to improve their appearence against lowercase letters.

It supports ASCII and the Latin-1 Supplement defined by Unicode, code points 0~255.

The ttf version was automatically converted, and may have baseline alignment issues when mixed with other fonts. (This font was made in Fony, which struggles to export files to anything other to .fon, not exactly the most modern format.)
